I am Nida, originally from Indonesia. My baby Aurora was born on 30th of January 2018 through emergency c-section. The days after we came back from the hospital were not easy for me and my husband. I needed to recover at least 40 days and my husband had to go to campus everyday. Our family was in Indonesia and no one came to visit. They gave support via video call and messages. Luckily, we also had support from Indonesian friends and neighbours who brought us cooked food, visited us and prayed for me and my baby. We also got support from kraamzorg.
After the kraamzorg left, We have Sara, who was taking care of me and my baby twice a week for 5 weeks. She helped me in so many ways during my postnatal period. She was being there not only as a postnatal doula but as a friend. She was able to give emotional and practical support which new mom like me need the most. She cooked for me and my husband some healthy foods and drinks, helped me with belly binding, and also did a foot massage :)
She was there to lend her ears to hear what I had been through and she could give me some advises from a physiologist point of view.
Sara is such a warm caring person and really makes you feel comfortable and confident, which is exactly what you need in those first few weeks after delivery. I feel so grateful for having Sara as my postnatal doula and being her friend until now. :) Having her at least can wipe off some tears, bring smiles, and makes my after birth live easier and less worry.. Thank you Sara for being a part of our life :)
